File2Pack SFX is well adapted for file backup and restore operation. You can backup important files in your system by adding them to the F2P package. The update feature keeps these files synchronized with the original files. The restore feature restores selected files in the F2P package back to the system.

The program new GUI is elegant, practical, and fully customizable. File2Pack SFX version 2.0 has a modern interface designed for easy access and usage. Menu items have small icons for easy identification. The user can set the toolbar icons as small or large, in addition to the font type, size, or color, and background color of the file explorer window. F2P package files can be viewed as large icons, small icons, list, or report. File information columns can be added, removed, widened, and sorted. The second version is now absolutely easy and fun to use. When you create or open an F2P package, you can drag-and-drop files and/or folders directly into its explorer-style window. m9P Editor Plus is a complete rich text editor that features the DERT technique. By default, the application handles text editing with the standard rich text format (RTF) found in documents with the (.rtf) extension. RTF enables you to write text with persistent format and to embed images and objects within your document. To make it easier for you to work with several documents at once, the editor is build as a multiple document interface (MDI) program that can host many documents within a single user interface. One interesting feature in m9P Editor Plus is that it can compile distributable executable rich text (DERT). As a trademark of mental9Production, DERT technique enables you to distribute your rich text with all of its embedded images and objects as a single compressed and secured executable program. This ensures that your publication reach its destination as intended without the ability to be tempered with. The executable can be run to display your rich text in read mode only exactly as was originally written and formatted. Building your text as executable is especially useful for internet distribution, where users can download and run your publication as any ordinary program.

mental9Production uses this editor to write textual Portable Document Format (PDF) files and to convert rich text documents to web pages. The publisher found that it is a good idea to provide a mechanism to export text to PDF since PDF files are so common in use. PDF files are designed to be transmitted efficiently over the internet and they can be opened using the Adobe Acrobat Reader. m9P Editor Plus can build web pages by transforming the rich text (formatted text and images) to HTML format. Although the program is a complete rich text editor in its own right, it can be used as rich text to web page converter following the WYSIWYG style. You can open any formatted text and convert the exact same formats, RTF, to their equivalent HTML tags. If the text contains pictures, they will be extracted and reproduced in JPEG format in the web page.

Auto hyperlinks creates live links to files or sites automatically when you type e-mail addresses, URL addresses, or UNC paths. When a URL web link (starts with http://, ftp://, www., or any other legal form) is typed, it will be identified internally by the editor as a URL. For example, when typing www.mental9Production.com the address will be colored blue, underlined, and the cursor changes to a hand to signify a clickable link. The link will launch an integrated web browser. E-mail addresses will be identified when they start with mailto. For example mailto:support@mental9Production.com will launch the default mail client.

Defining DERT:

Distributable Executable Rich Text (DERT) is an innovative new technique invented by mental9Production to perform compact compilation of rich text into standalone executable programs. DERT greatly enhances the security of the publication and the executables run as any normal program.

DERT Technique Basic Operations:

ENCODE - COMPACT - COMPILE

Encoding the rich text ensures the originality of the publication since it counteracts tempering with the content of the document.

Compacting reduces significantly the size of large rich text especially the ones with many embedded materials such as images and objects.

Compiling transforms the rich text into an executable standalone program.

How Does The DERT Executable Work?

Running the resulting DERT executable program opens a window displaying the originally compiled rich text complete with all of its formatting and embedded images and objects exactly as the document was created. The program opens the document in read mode only, denying the user any write access. In other words, the publication cannot be edited after compilation. This is enforced by the fact that DERT will also encode the executable to prevent reverse engineering. So, the document cannot be decompiled, edited, and recompiled as a way of forging its contents. If, in some way, a malicious attempt succeeded in changing the contents of the DERT executable program, then the DERT program, when run, will display a warning message stating that the document is corrupt and may have been tempered with. Here's the warning message that will be triggered:

"WARNING FROM DERT DECODER
THE DATA IS CORRUPT!
Possibly the DERT document has been tempered with!
This document may not contain the genuine material of the original author!"
 

Main Benefits Of Using DERT:

Rich text will be run as a standalone executable program, i.e., it does not require a third-party word processor to open it.

To a strong degree, DERT guarantees that the publication is genuine and contains the exact materials as intended by the author. This allows the distribution of important documents with data that need to be exact.

Being an executable, DERT programs are ideal for distribution over the internet, especially that DERT compact large rich text that has many embedded images to much smaller size (approx. less than half) while, at the same time, maintaining exactly 100% the images quality.

Application That Uses DERT:

DERT is used by m9P Editor Plus.

One might argue that this technique is not bullet proof against forgery. For example, let us say Publisher A produced a DERT Publication X, and another Publisher B wants to take credits for the contents of X, so produces DERT Publication Y written as X. Now we have two publications X and Y with exact contents but written with different publishers. You cannot know who is the original contents creator. Continue with the scenario, Publisher B also produces altered material similar to X or maybe contradicting X and publishes this Publication Z under the name of Publisher A. Some dispute arises and Publisher B claims the ownership of the original contents X and declares that Publisher A published Z and not X. Publisher A cannot easily prove the ownership of Publication X. Well, the answer is: WRONG for both parts of the scenario.

Why's the answer is WRONG? Simply because each DERT publication is stamped with the compilation date and the serial number of the computer drive where the compilation originated. Remember that DERT in itself is secured and cannot be altered in any way, that includes its date and serial number. Back to the scenario:

1.  "You cannot know who is the original contents creator": you can know, just click the Certificate icon at the lower left corner of DERT. It tells you, among many things, if the publication is genuine and it tells you the Creation Date. The publisher with the earlier creation date is the original contents creator!

2. "Publisher A cannot easily prove the ownership of Publication X": easily the ownership of X can be proven to Publisher A by showing that the DERT drive serial number is the serial number of a computer drive owned by Publisher A!
